Villa Sumaya

A picturesque hotel, restaurant and retreat centre near the village of Santa Cruz on Lake Atitlan – Villa Sumaya is owned and operated by Wendy Stauffer.

There are just 7 rooms (6 standard rooms and 1 suite), each named after Mayan glyphs, all decorated with local fabrics, ceramic tiles and wooden furnishings and all with en suite bathrooms, shower and verandas.

The hotel’s restaurant, Beau Soleil, has a stunning view of the lake and serves excellent food including some vegetarian options.

There is a veranda area with rocking chairs and hammocks for resting and reading.

Villa Sumaya specialises in relaxation, meditation, yoga and a variety of massage treatments (must be pre-booked). You will also find a sauna and outdoor hot tub (advanced warning required as they take time to heat up!).
