El Parador del Colca

Built from natural materials such as adobe, stone and thatch from the surrounding area, the Parador del Colca is a charming and friendly eco-lodge in a stunning setting. Power comes from solar panels, water is from natural springs and food from the surrounding fields. Activities include hiking with llama, horseback riding, canoeing and trekking.

Location
Located 160 km (100 miles) north of Arequipa, the “white city”, close to the colonial village of Yanque, after a four-hour-bus ride.

On the way from Arequipa to the “Valley of the wonders”, as the famous Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa named it, the most stunning attractions are the volcanoes, some of which are still active: Hualca Hualca 6025 meters above sea level (19767 feet), Sabancaya 5976 meters above sea level (19606 feet) and Ampato 6288 meters above sea level (20630 feet) among others. Furthermore you can see a flock of wild vicuñas, beautiful crops and villages where women wear traditional inca clothes.

El Parador del Colca is located on the left bank of the Colca river, 12 Km (5 miles) away from the village of Chivay. This spectacular place lies on the Andes, over 3260 meters above the sea level (11876 feet), far away from noise and city problems. You will witness the valley’s beauty, rare flowers such as La Cantuta, which is representative from the Colca Valley, thermal springs and majestic animals like the Andean hummingbird. The biggest hummingbird of the world.

One of the main attractions is the Condor, sacred bird from the Andean world, which is also the biggest flying bird in the planet, A condor spreading its wings measures 3.5 m (11.4 feet).

At El Parador del Colca Mother Nature gave free rein to her imagination.

Rooms
The hotel offer seven charming rooms. Three of them offer double accommodation and the other four have four or five twin beds depending on the guest’s wish.

All of them have a private terrace and views to the Colca canyon, heating equipment, bathroom amenities, room service from 5:00 to 22:00, private bathrooms and hot water using sun panels during the day, which guarantees hot water all day long.
